My Purpose has always been to help nonprofit organizations get greater $$$$$ donations, grant awards and sponsors, allowing nonprofit agencies to serve a greater number of our neighbors in need. In writing my easy-to-read digest “5 Easy Steps to WIN $$$ from Donors, Grantors and Sponsors” I talk about building your website, starting with the HOME page.
I believe a good way to think of your website’s HOME page, is to picture inviting someone to your own Home. You want to give a visitor the address, maybe a map to get there and a picture. Your visitor then crosses the welcome mat and enters your home. You introduce your family members, talk about events, offer food and drink and enjoy friendly conversation. Same for your nonprofit website, show the site visitor a friendly banner, a picture full of children or seniors or animals, a banner that warms the heart.
Introduce the site visitor to your Board members, your Executive Director and Staff. Add testimonies and videos. Be sure to clearly state the history, purpose and mission of your nonprofit organization.
