CHRISTMAS IN JULY
Christmas in July – Say what? As it happens, those who know me, I mean really know me, know that I love to start planning Christmas in July.
I start watching the Hallmark channel of Christmas movies, I think about doing inventory of all my Christmas decorations piled mile high in the garage, start my naughty or nice list and may or may not have been known to listen to holiday songs at my desk.
To my knowledge ALL of my nonprofit clients do HUGE programs and services during the holidays, making sure every person in need has groceries, clothing, toys for the children, gift cards, warm blankets and more. How about starting up that program committee NOW, this month and using last year’s giving report, begin to plan and prepare for the 2021 holidays.

Stay focused and begin your ASK campaign for both monetary and in-kind donations, communicating to the potential donor or sponsor the impact their donation will have in their community. Be prepared and beat the crowd with a well thought out plan for the end of the year activities.
HOT TIP OF THE WEEK:
Be sure to update GUIDESTAR with all pertinent information regarding your nonprofit organization. Most grant funders, major donors and sponsors are checking GUIDESTAR to be sure your nonprofit organization is listed in their database.

CA-VFW Motorcycle Club (Inland Empire)
This fraternal nonprofit organization is all about providing camaraderie and support to veterans, active military, families and seniors. Their programs include providing food boxes that feed a family of four for a week, on a monthly basis, to veterans and families needing supplemental food and home delivery for shut-ins in the Inland Empire region. Led by Kevin Bussdieker, VP of Programs, who also spearheads the “home safety inspection” program, by checking and replacing smoke alarms, CO detectors, fire extinguishers if needed and ALWAYs willing to sit a spell and provide a listening ear.
